About Me

I’m Stefan Botha, a South African photographer driven by curiosity, emotion and a deep love for the world around me. My journey into photography began with a lifelong fascination with wildlife, especially the animals that are often misunderstood or feared, and has grown into a passion for capturing both the beauty of nature and the meaningful moments between people. I have what I call a “camera eye”—wherever I go, I find myself seeing moments as photographs, looking for the emotion, behaviour and story hidden within them. From wildlife and conservation to weddings, portraits and commercial work, I’m drawn to moments that feel genuine and worth remembering.

My goal is not simply to create beautiful images, but to make people feel something—to leave them with greater curiosity, appreciation and love for the subject in front of them. Whether that means inspiring someone to care about a species they once feared, preserving a once-in-a-lifetime memory, or simply making someone stop and look at the world differently, I believe photography has the power to create change. I photograph because I want to share my love for the world with others.

Wildlife, People & Stories

I believe the most meaningful photographs are the ones that make us feel something, whether it is love, wonder, curiosity or simply the beauty of being alive.

I started my journey in 2022 and have since grown from photographing the wildlife around me to competing internationally and building a professional photography career. In 2026, I had the privilege of representing South African youth photography at the 2nd International Youth Photographers Festival “No Frames” in Chelyabinsk, Russia, where I received international recognition alongside young photographers from around the world.
